Sharing Smiles

Posted on abril 29, 2013in Share Expertise, Time, Yourself

(Vic Lahoz, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines) Rolled the dice and got Share Expertise, Time and Yourself. Last Friday a supplier who visited me, commented how they felt it was a refreshing experience to visit the office and be greeted with a warm and friendly smile by everyone from the security guard to the receptionist to my executive assistant. Didn’t manage to share this feedback with the staff because I forgot or didn’t have the time last week. But when the dice rolled, I wasted no time in letting all concerned staff know the feedback for which they were very happy.

Telling the Truth

Posted on abril 29, 2013in Build Relationships Every Day

(J.M. – USA) Today I was in a meeting with a potential client who has a difficult problem. Instead of telling him what he wanted to hear, I told him the truth, which meant a possible postponement of the project, but a better long-term outcome for him. Trust and honesty always win out over short-term gain!

Trouble with the Car

Posted on abril 29, 2013in Build Relationships Every Day

(J.M. – USA) We had car trouble in Chicago today. How to handle it? Rolled The Company Cube and it came up: Build Relationships Every Day! Posted photos of AAA guys on Facebook. They felt like movie stars! Ok, things were not so bad after I adjusted my attitude!

The Problem Printer

Posted on abril 20, 2013in Share Expertise, Time, Yourself

(D.C. – USA) Lately, I have been given additional job responsibilities at work. I tend to get behind with paper work so I try catching up by working on it in between my other responsibilities. One morning I had the perfect chance to do it and I immediately plunged into it.

Prior to that day my co-worker mentioned to me that she was not able to print the test results the way the doctor prefers. I told her I would help when I had the chance.

I was engrossed with my work when she reminded me of her printing problem. I had completely forgot about it. I was so immersed that I didn’t want to be disturbed. I got irritated when she said «Are you going to help?» I dragged myself to see what I could do to help her. I told her I don’t remember printing the kind of pattern she wants. So I told her bluntly that she could figure it out herself. I didn’t want to be bothered any more so I could finish my own work. As I continued to catch up with my work something inside of me told me «she is my neighbor who needs help at that moment.»

I didn’t know how to make the pattern the way our boss wanted it, but I found myself in front of the problem machine. I tried and tried and after a while the correct pattern printed out. My co-worker was pleased and reciprocated my action by letting the doctor know to whom the credit is due.

I was not able to catch up with my work that day, however I was able to catch up again with what I was lacking – to be the first to accept God in my neighbor.
