Share Expertise, Time, Yourself

(K.K. – Illinois, USA) – This morning at work I rolled the Company Cube that I have on my desk and the side “Share expertise, time, yourself” came up.

A short time later I got a call from a staff member asking for how to download some materials for a task that I had sent instructions to him on only a few weeks prior. I started to get a bit irritated thinking that the person should have just followed the instructions I sent and they could have completed the task. I then thought about the cube I had rolled earlier that morning. Perhaps the person did not understand the instructions, or maybe I had not given the instructions in a clear manner, or maybe the person did not have the expertise to follow the instructions.

With this new frame of mind, I let go of the irritation and tried to coach the person through the steps to complete the task they were asking about. After a few moments the person saw how to do it and thanked me for helping them.

(Hidalgo, Mexico) – Hoy inicie por primera vez a utilizar el cubo en el grupo de trabajo, cuando llegamos lo primero que hicimos fue girar el cubo, y que me salio? COMPARTIR!
Fue muy fuerte porque habiamos planeado una reunion con la contable del grupo para poder ver juntos el mejor modo de hacerlo sin problemas para el grupo de trabajo, asi fue que ella cuando llegó, se esperaba de mi algun reclamo o llamado de atencion porque le faltaban algunos datos. Fue acordarme del cubo y de compartir mi experiencia, darme el todo, para poder ayudarle en su tarea, asi fue como al final del dia logramos tener todos los numeros en su orden y donde hemos compartido lo mejor nuestra experiencia.

(Chicago, USA) I had a meeting scheduled last evening and I made a request to our IT department to set up a Skype call for us. When I went to our room, our IT Assistant was having troubles setting up the camera. I sat down with her and tried together. I realized that I had more experience with Skype than she did, but I still let her do most of it so she wouldn’t feel bad. At the end I suggested to get the webcam from my computer since the one we were using didn’t seem to be working. So finally it all worked out, but this whole experience gave us the opportunity to get to know each other better.

(Vic Lahoz, Makati, Metro Manila, Philippines) Rolled the dice and got Share Expertise, Time and Yourself. Last Friday a supplier who visited me, commented how they felt it was a refreshing experience to visit the office and be greeted with a warm and friendly smile by everyone from the security guard to the receptionist to my executive assistant. Didn’t manage to share this feedback with the staff because I forgot or didn’t have the time last week. But when the dice rolled, I wasted no time in letting all concerned staff know the feedback for which they were very happy.
